Ploughing of regenerated and tree planted areas is being done regularly at this time of the year. This improves air circulation so that roots can respire easily. Roots can also penetrate deeper into the soil thus holding the tree firmly. Ploughing also enhances the water retaining capacity of the soil which is very important when considering the climate and the limited amount of rain in our island. (Action C5)
